Waiters get the income mainly from tips. Their salary is only 2 or 3 dollars per hour. People need to pay for 20 percent to 40 percent of the total bills as tips. It is decided by the customer. If they like, they can pay 40 percent. The tip is part of the American culture. Though many young people feel like a burden, they still need to respect it.
